Snes Serial
Is the SNES serial document still being updated? If so, I might have an interesting entry. After borrowing my friends SNES for a while, I decided that I needed one in my life. After doing 'my homework', I wanted to find a 1chip version. So I took a look at the doc with the serial numbers and figured I could better start searching. I started looking for non-yellowed consoles online, as they tend to be the newer versions.
The first guy that I contacted, who lived just a couple of km's away from me, gave me this serial number: UP18215433. This is the highest serial to date for PAL consoles. Naturally, I had to buy it.So I've picked it up about a week ago, and it's great! Perfectly clear image using my GC RGB cable, which was a surprise, I tried using it on my friends SNES (old model) and it gave a darkened picture. Also, rather interestingly, there is no vertical stripe! I have tried and tried, but I can't see it. The game I used was Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World. I tried turning the brightness of my tv all the way up (or down), but there was no vertical banding whatsoever.

After reading this thread, I started thinking. Could this possibly be a 1chip-03? Apparently nobody has ever found a PAL 03 board, I don't even know if they were ever released in Europe.Next thing on my list: opening up my console.
I can't do that yet because I don't have the security bits. It really was becoming inevitable, so I went ahead and ordered some. When they have arrived, I will open up my console and check what board it is. I will post my findings here.

Click to expand.Depends on what you want.If you want accuracy, then the original console is for you.If all your after is sharpness, and don't mind glitches, ghosting, overdriven whites, then the 1CHIP/Mini is for you.Just saying.BY THE WAY,The first post on this thread needs serious updating as its got some misinformation. Because the 1CHIP has the exact same problems (glitches in certain games for example) as the Mini.
They are both the same in terms of CPU/PPU, APU, RAM, etc. All is documented in this guy's post.
