Boss Gt-10 Sound Samples
Ok this thing is driving me crazy! Totally frustrated here. I've been trying to connect my Boss GT-10 to my laptop through usb using Cubase 5 as software. In fact, the GT-10 is specifically suited to work with Cubase.

I'll ask around on the Boss Central forums, I found a couple of people that use Cubase for their recordings so they must know something, thnx for the link!:)ps I just started using Reaper and got my hands on EZ drummer, maybe you've got some advice there Rick?;) = good music is good drinking =.

You mean the FXFloorboard? It's brilliant!:D I've had it ever since I got the GT, installed GT librarian and found it lacking.about the EZ drummer, it's an advanced VST-plugin to insert drums into your tracks, although I haven't got it to work yet:p what do you use to insert drums? And/or create a rhythm instead of using a metronome? (I recorded a little bit and found out my playing ain't as tight as I thought)by the way I have no trouble playing music through my speakers, while at the same time playing my guitar as well as the recorded track through my amp, with the Boss selected as input/output for Reaper but with other applications having the speakers selectedI wonder how it will sound if I plug my speakers into my Boss:rolleyes: I do know that the recorded tracks sound digital/aweful when played through my laptop into my speakers:eek: = good music is good drinking =. So I've been using the Boss GT-10 for about a year know and I just decided to plug straight into my amp today. Once I plugged straight in, I was astounding as to how great it sounded! The natural character of my amp came through much more, and it was far louder. Is there something I'm missing here? Because when I plug my GT-1O in, my tone completely changes, sometimes in good and bad ways.
Is there a way I could still use my GT-10 as a multi effects unit without it completely changing the character of my amp? Can I still get the natural amp tone that my amp has, but still use the functionality the dozens of awesome effects that my GT-10 offers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys,Hayden.
I have a GT-3, so I don't know if it's completely the same, but there are some global parameters you may want to check. It allows you to choose whether the output is to an amp, headphones or mixer, and there may be some eq parameters strictly for the output setting, not part of the effects chain. For me the GT-3 reduces the liveliness of the signal, but sometimes that can be good, and the output eq might be helpful if you're using an amp that is too bright or too bassy.
Also, there's a user theory about how the GTs get connected to amps and effects loops called the '4-cable method.' You might look that up and try it. Otherwise, there may not be much you can do. I am also a GT-3 user and used own the GT-5. The GT-10 is a little different animal and more advanced in the amplifier modeling department. However, I believe that all of these GT boards have something in common and that is that they have to be optimized to use as direct into a PA or to use with an amplifier.
I think that if you're going to use this with your amp you're going to have to spend some time to get the tones adjusted for best performance with your amp. This takes a lot of time and effort. Whether it's a Boss GT or a Line 6 modeling board, it takes awhile to optimize these for what you're wanting to do. But once you get it like you want it and you stick with the same amp you're good to go and it's plug and play after that.Steve Howe, of Yes, uses a Line 6 modeler and uses it into a Line 6 tube amp.

In the gear preview done with him by Premier Guitar he spoke of how it took him a long time to get his Line 6 HD tuned in to his amp and to get all the tones he needs to replicate the tones on the Yes records. He had a tech help him and be a second set of ears, so to speak, and he backs it all up on a computer, plus he carries a second HD with him which is a clone of his primary unit in case the primary unit were to shut down.I don't use my GT for live performance anymore but have gone back to pedals. If I were using it again, I would use it into a Tech 21 Power Engine 60. It's a warm-sounding solid state amp and has EQ, but it doesn't have a preamp which will alter all the tones that have taken lots of hours to set-up on the GT. Had the GT-8.
The output of the pedal is low to prevent overdriving its circuitry, which sounds harsh. It can be adjusted. On the GT-8 you could bypass the amp/preamp on the pedal and remove it from the signal pathway that way. There was also a technique called the 4-cable method that worked well. What amp does the op have? Does it have a loop? If so, plug your guitar into your amp, out of the effects loop into the GT-10's effects loop input, and from the 10's loop output back into the amps loop. This allows you to use your amp, while still getting some great sounds in the fx loop.Loop levels are typically higher, so you may need to adjust that to prevent any harshness.
